Today is a special time for remembering people. November is the month when we particularly pray for our loved ones who have died. Remembrance Sunday is dedicated to all those who have died in war. Yes. We pray for all those who were at the front line in conflict and gave their lives in battle, but we also pray for the victims of warfare, past and present, whose names will never be engraved on war memorials, but whose names are forever etched onto our hearts.
We remember all Church leaders who are also peacemakers. May their message of peace reach even the most remote parts of our fragile world.
We remember military chaplains who, unarmed, carry hope and courage into the midst of battle. May they be blessed in their generous efforts to support the people they serve, regardless of the risk to their own lives.
We remember the members of the emergency services who work to save lives in peace and in war. May they receive the support that they need for themselves and the skills and insight which will help them to help others.

We remember all those who, today, will take part in the Remembrance Sunday celebrations. May their longing for peace touch the hearts and lives of people who have never known warfare.
We remember all those who have died because of war. May they enjoy eternal life.
Jesus, Lord and Prince of Peace, fill our hearts and lives with your peace. Help us to grow in wisdom and understanding so that fighting, and bloodshed will never again be an option. Amen.
