Loving Lord, you rode into Jerusalem to shouts of praise which, a few days later, became calls for your crucifixion. Knowing your love for all of us, we bring you our prayers and our search for your mercy and forgiveness.
We pray for all religious leaders. As Holy Week begins, may they inspire the world with a longing to become compassionate peacemakers in our troubled world.
We pray for governments across the world in the face of unprecedented economic challenges. May the Holy Spirit of wisdom so guide their decision-making and actions that they will bring about the greatest good to the greatest number of people.
We pray for businesses, families and individuals who are caught by the present economic uncertainty. May they see light at the end of the tunnel and find good solutions to their problems.
We pray for families during the Easter holidays. May they be filled with joy and love and may they grow closer to each other and to the God who loves them.
We pray for everyone who is suffering the grief of bereavement. May those who have died be celebrating the joys of heaven and those whom they have left behind be comforted.
We pray for us all as we enter Holy Week. As we reflect on Jesus’ total gift of himself during the coming days, may we be filled with the hope of Easter.
Lord of life and hope, as we celebrate Palm Sunday, may we also look forward to the joy of the resurrection. May we walk this coming week in your company. Amen.
