Bidding Prayers – 19th January

Lord God, Jesus made water into wine at Cana and gave a sign that your love is beyond anything we can imagine, we bring before you our petitions for the needs of the Church and the world.

We pray for the Church throughout the world. May the Holy Spirit bless us with wisdom and insight as we face the challenges of today’s society and its many needs.

We pray for all those who need courage in difficult circumstances. May they find support from the people around them and hope for the days to come.

We pray for ourselves. As we hear Mary’s appeal, “do whatever he tells you”, we pray for the generosity and commitment to make a difference in the lives of the people we meet.

We pray for the people of Los Angeles and all those who, in any way, have been affected by the wildfires. As they look towards rebuilding their lives, homes, businesses and communities may they find hope amid their difficulties.

We pray for the success of the ceasefire negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. May there be an end to the suffering of the past year and a new beginning to a future of justice and of peace.

We pray for families who are struggling for whatever reason. May love grow between family members and may they find answers to their questions of daily living.

We pray for people who have no home or security in their homelessness. May they find people who care and can help them to discover hope and a new future.

God our Father, keep your Holy Spirit alive in us. May Jesus walkwith us as our friend, brother and inspiration. Amen.
