Bidding Prayers – 23rd June

Lord, you asked your disciples why they were so afraid in the midst of the storm. You were with them, keeping them safe. As we come before you today, we are confident that you have our best interests at heart.

Lord in thy mercy, hear our prayer

In our stormy world, we pray for all religious leaders. May they inspire us to work for peace and greater understanding so that we can live in hope and harmony.

Approximately a quarter of the world’s population are eligible to vote this year. May elections be safe, free and fair, bringing results which will benefit the greatest number of people.

Lord in thy mercy, hear our prayer

This country faces the General Election within days. May candidates be inspired by a thirst for service rather than power. May campaigns and media act with integrity and may voters have a clear vision of the most uniting and compassionate way ahead for the country and the world.

Lord in thy mercy, hear our prayer

Countless people are facing storms and insecurity because of warfare and violence. May peacemakers find effective ways to bring security and justice to the places most in need of their support.

As the exam season draws to a close, many young people are making important decisions for their future. May the Holy Spirit guide them, their families and their mentors in their choices.

Lord in thy mercy, hear our prayer

Many people are preparing for their summer holidays. May they travel safely, enjoy times of relaxation and discovery, and return home filled with happiness and good memories.

Lord in thy mercy, hear our prayer

Lord of life and hope, calm our anxieties. Help us to grow in faith and love of you and each other. Amen.
