Loving Lord, you told us to love each other in the same way that you loved us, but also to the same extent that you showed your love, a love which “cost not less than everything”. Today we offer you our prayers on behalf of a world and of the people who are closer to your heart than we can possibly imagine.
Called to love, we pray for all religious leaders. May their example of generous service and compassion inspire many people to reach out to those who need love and support.
Called to love, we pray for people who feel lonely and especially for those who do not know how to give or to receive love. May they experience love and an end to their feelings of isolation.
Called to love, we remember the people of Ukraine, Syria, Yemen, Nigeria, Myanmar, China and any place in the world where fighting and bloodshed restrict family life and love. May the efforts of peacemakers inspire an epidemic of peace, justice and respect for human rights.
Called to love, we gratefully remember those who work in the caring and emergency services. May they be blessed for their dedication and generosity. May they find the courage and perseverance that they will sometimes need.
Called to love, we pray for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. May they find the comfort, support and hope that they need at this time.
Lord of love, watch over, bless and protect the people we bring before you today. Help us to grow in our love for you and for each other. Amen.
