Today, the birth of a New Year, is also an opportunity to cherish the birth of Jesus, the feast of Mary, mother of God and the World Day of Peace.
As members of the human family, we bring before you, Lord, our own families and all the peoples of our world, knowing that you love us more than we can possibly imagine.
On this day of new beginnings, we pray for all religious leaders. May the challenge to live in peace and reconciliation touch the hearts of all those who can make a difference.
On this day of new beginnings, we pray for world and local governments. May they strive to nurture communities of peace and understanding.
On this day of new beginnings, we pray for families, especially for those who are torn apart by violence and hardship. We remember the people of Ukraine, Somalia and every country where the self-interest of the few deny the majority the right and freedom to live in peace and harmony.
On this day of new beginnings, we pray for ourselves, our families and all those who we know and love. May this coming year be blessed with hope and love. May we grow closer to you and to each other.
On this day of new beginnings, we pray for just solutions to the industrial unrest which has affected the lives of so many people. May employers and employees listen to each other and cooperate in finding answers to the questions which divide them.
On this day of new beginnings, we pray for the courage and strength to follow Jesus in everything that we say, think and do. May the Holy Spirit guide us to make wise decisions.
God of beginnings and endings, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, help us to make 2023 a year of love and service. Be with us at every moment of everyday. Amen.
