As we continue our journey through Advent, we set before the Lord our needs and concerns as we pray for ourselves and others.
We pray for all the bishops: that they will be a true sign of God’s will to heal wounded humanity.
We pray for all those who are homeless or who sleep rough; may God send help to feed them, warm them and shelter them.
We lovingly remember the caregivers who generously give of themselves as they look after people who are vulnerable and in need. May they be blessed in their kindness and their work for others.
We pray for the state of marriage: that those who embark on it do so with seriousness and good intent. We also pray for those who do not marry and ask that they find affection and fulfilment in other ways.
As we prepare for the season when we celebrate the birth of the Christ child, we remember those who do not look forward to this time; for those who are poor and unable to afford luxuries; for those who have no one to share with; for those who mourn the passing of loved ones: May God bless them and provide for their needs.
Eternal Father, look with kindness on the needs of the whole human family and bless us with your peace; through Christ our Lord, we ask you to hear our prayer now. Amen.
